I truly should not have started the morning by photographing Wonderful Husband’s sock progress. In short–we hates the short-row heel. If I didn’t like the short-row toe, what would’ve possessed me to like the short-row heel? I haven’t a clue. I must have been smoking wacky-weed.

That heel is for some kind of bird-footed animal which I can assure you, Wonderful Husband does not have. His feet are well-formed normal human feet with 5 toes apiece. On the other foot, uh, hand…the top of the foot looks great! Did the pattern make a mistake? Maybe. Did I make a mistake in calculations–much more likely. So tonight, Wonderful Husband and I are going to go over the measurements and formula to make sure I plugged in the right numbers for this puppy. Which means that I need to hurry up and get my sock calculator built or I should go use Sockulator III – The Knitting Fiend.

I’ve been having much more success the past weekend with Wrapped in Tradition. I took this along for commuter knitting yesterday and happily knit my way back and forth to the office. I’m almost halfway thru the first chart which is a long one (14 stitch/36 rows). But I love, love, love, love what I’m seeing.

My enthusiasm can barely be contained. I know. It has to be.

This weekend was a busy one. Saturday was spent gazing at yarn in my LYS and learning how to work a short-row heel which from the evidence above, I failed. Miserably. But–I’m happily thrilled with the new location of Ewe & I. It’s easy to get to, roomy, and just down the block is a real, honest-to-goodness French patisserie. I have a complete and utter weakness for their lemon cookies and a cup of French-roast coffee with cream and sugar. Everything in this patisserie is just wonderful but the lemon cookie/coffee combination is simply sublime.

Sunday, Wonderful Husband convinced me to go fishing with him. My cousin lives in a house by a well-stocked creek. I love the land here. The roads remind me of where I grew up, all twisty and turny with no shoulder and 2 cars passing each other was an event. Alas, Wonderful Husband didn’t catch anything edible. He told us he caught a Sunny and threw it back. I suspect it was just a shade too cold for the trout or the creek hadn’t been stocked yet. But the weather was gorgeous!

Even the sock got in on the action as I sat creek-side and knitted. Yes, I have the patience for fishing now — as long as I have my knitting with me. I have no idea how on Earth my grandfather managed to catch anything with me around as a kid. Since he was my primary baby-sitter when I was knee-high to a grasshopper, once his work was done, he’d go fishing. I’d play along the creek banks entertaining myself with whatever songs a happy 4, 5, and 6 year old dreams up.

Monday was a typical Monday for me. But in honor of gratuitous the greyhound pix, here’s another 2 to add to the collection. I love walking in the door and having this greeting me. I also love that my dog is affectionate enough to give me a multitude of kisses he’s so happy to see me.

Of course, later on in the evening Silly has arranged himself into this…

Oh and this weekend, Silly decided his bed was just the most uncomfortable thing so he decided to rearrange it to his complete and utter satisfaction…

Okay, enough about the dog. Enough about the sock. Time to go to Border’s and pick up my new book and maybe grab a little lunch to go with it.
